My best habit is picking up trash whenever I see it. My guilty pleasure is dancing, I dance almost every day in my house when no one is there to watch me. I believe that work ethic is generally learned at an early age. Together they instilled within me drive, perseverance, ingenuity, and compassion that has allowed me to succeed today.

I am proud of the awards that my company has won, from individual awards such as the Delta Chamber Hats Off to Excellence awards to the Small Business of the Year award from the Richmond Chamber of Commerce.

However my proudest accomplishment and career highlight is the ability I now have to give back. This year alone we have donated 40, lbs or more of furniture to the Habitat for Humanity. My future goals include the expansion of my business through the purchase of a warehouse to sort, store, and divert materials for recycling or reuse. Lastly as a major goal I would like to make the list of top fastest growing companies in BC.

Get out there and explore, experience, and network like no tomorrow. Many of the people you meet now will be with you for the rest of your life!

Embrace the journey. I remember wanting to be a hairdresser but I found a Grade 6 yearbook that said interior designer. I am vegan and drink an exceptional amount of water. My parents always set a good example when I was a child and worked hard for what they have which showed me how to do the same, and now I also have my husband who works alongside me in our business and we push each other constantly.

Making the decision to start my business. It was much earlier in my career than I thought it would be. Sometimes you just need a push, and in my case it was a negative experience in a former position and the knowledge and determination that I could do it better. I have a tendency to say yes to too many things.

Live without regret, spend time with those you love while you can. Congratulations to the young leaders of Delta! The City recognizes all the community-minded young leaders and their work in helping advocate for a better future. We wish each recipient well in their ongoing work for the betterment of Delta and hope others will be inspired to contribute towards building a more inclusive, sustainable, and innovative community.

Jackson, Councillor Dan Copeland. I wanted to be a pilot but discovered I have red green colorblindness! My mother, Yvonne Anderson, instilled a hard working mindset into my sisters and I. As kids she registered us for many extra curricular activities and made sure we followed through on our commitments. Watching her and my step father, David, build Santevia into a successful small business showed us what can be accomplished with hard work and grit!

I lived a year of my life in Beijing studying Mandarin at a Chinese sister school of the University of Victoria. My toughest career decision was to leave my technology job working in Brighton, U. I enjoyed my expat lifestyle and loved traveling throughout Europe on business and for pleasure.

I even met my longtime girlfriend in Brighton who now lives in Tsawwassen with me. While working in the U. In my spare time I taught myself JavaScript, Node. Using those skills I partnered with two friends, to build an agrotechnology product to automate growing plants year-round. I love making products and growing companies. We have an awesome team at Santevia and I am excited to see it grow into a strong BC business. Stick with it and you will go far!

As a child I wanted to care for animals, as a teen I wanted to be a high school teacher What is your best habit? Reading books daily and drinking a lot of water! Ordering take-out after we get groceries haha Who or what is responsible for your work ethic? Showing me that you can and should enjoy what you do for a living. To focus on things that matter and bring you joy, so it never feels like work! While backpacking in Vietnam I dined on Cobra. Looking back now I am still shocked I did that.

I am proud of every new season we open at Backroads Market and extremely humbled to have topped the polls during the last election as a newcomer.

Continue to be open to opportunities, be intentional and present with my family, grow Backroads Market as needed and stay community focused! Develop a mindset that recognizes failures, limitations and challenges as opportunities to learn, experiment and grow. The future of Delta is bright! Congratulations to those recognized as a Young Leader of Delta. I wanted to work in the fashion industry! Positive self-talk and believing in myself. Not feeling guilty for any of my guilty pleasures haha!

Life is meant to be enjoyed, guilt free. My mom and dad both played a big role in the development of my work ethic. As business owners themselves they led by example and inspired and motivated me to try new things and to work hard for what I want. Their encouragement and support was and is always present. For a farmer who loves getting her hands dirty, I am more girly than you would think! Leaving the fashion industry. I still use much of my learnings from that time in my life towards my business now.

Hard work, dedication and perseverance has gotten us to our 9th season! Farming is not for the faint of heart and I am so proud of what we have built. To continue to live authentically in the direction of my values and dreams. I am a lifelong learner and want to keep a growth mindset in business. To be a professional snowboarder. This dream eventually became a reality from ages ! Pizza Shapes Australian snack.

After my dad got laid off when I was in high school, my parents drove from Tsawwassen to West Vancouver every day to launch and grow their travel agency. My toughest career decision was to pull back on franchising Junk. Although tough, it was the right one as it sits in line with our values. We are very focused on building our internal team and serving our clients needs.

We started in my parents basement in Tsawwassen, and now have over 30 employees. We are starting to expand into additional recycling services, such as clothing donations and electronics recycling.

Be the best listener in the room. Young Leaders of Delta! Feel uncomfortable in a gym setting? Are you chronically injured? I always considered becoming a teacher, but for years I also wanted to be a pilot like my dad! Eating pastries and drinking tea while reading a novel in bed on weekend mornings. I attribute my work ethic to my parents. They consistently demonstrated their pride in my efforts but never asked for a particular outcome. One as a teenager, one as an adult. It was a life-changing and sometimes gruelling experience which has greatly impacted my personal and professional life.

My former teachers in the Delta School District made an impact I still remember fondly today. Invest time into the relationships you value. I always thought I would manage and produce large-scale theatrical productions and entertainment events. While attending university pursing my degree with a full-course load, I accepted an Executive Director position with a provincial sport organization. This provided the pressure necessary to learn the skills I have today resulting in my work ethic.

You must put in the effort to make it reality. Going bungee jumping or parachuting out of an airplane. I would be surprised if that ever becomes something I did. Moving into industry, working for a SME has proven to be the right decision.

At this time I accepted the role as Executive Director while attending university full-time concurrently. Since the pandemic, I have a renewed perspective on health and wellness. Personal goals surround overall health, both physical and mental. Career development and work can not come at a cost to your health, therefore daily routines are an important factor and goal for myself in and beyond.

You will end up becoming a CPA. On their recent nomination being honoured as a Young Leader of Delta. Founded in , Sarah Gallop Design Inc. We are so gr grateful wonderful community and its future. Jordan is an accomplished professional with over 15 years of management experience and business development expertise in the healthcare sector. He has been an extremely valuable addition to the KinVillage Board of Directors, and we are honored to have him on our team to further our mission of helping older adults in the South Delta community live their lives to the fullest.

Congratulations Jordan and to all the winners for your contributions in making Delta a better place to live! Understanding the importance of the minute details and how they collaborate to become the big picture.

I have an amazing ability to eat entire bags of chips. I credit my work ethic from starting a business at You realize very quickly no one will do it for you when it is your business. I used to have a national chess ranking. Transitioning from group model to individual design model. Celebrated 10 years of business this past February.

I want to own the building I operate out of and to create a wellness clinic. Get a business coach! An optometrist checked all the boxes. I never procrastinate and I put a great deal of energy into everything that I do. Even my kids cringe at the sight. My parents. They taught me to work hard and never give up.

They have supported my dreams and visions, backing me up in everything that I do. I used to be a cook at a kids summer camp. Macaroni, hot dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches were my specialties.

After graduating optometry school, I had a very hard time deciding where I would practice. I explored various clinics around BC and Alberta, looking for the perfect community to immerse myself in.

I made the decision to move to Tsawwassen, which turned out to be the best decision ever! Being a small business owner, health care provider — and surviving the pandemic. We had to make so many changes to how our clinic operates, while constantly adapting to restrictions. Our number one priority remained to help our patients.

I am very proud of the teamwork and drive within our clinic. To continue to be a part of this amazing community in as many ways possible. This includes through my work, children, and local activities and organizations.

We live in such an incredible place and together we are so much stronger. Relax and enjoy the fun. When I was seven I hosted a political birthday party - it has always been my dream to serve my community. Keeping my unread emails at 0. I love showing off our three local breweries. Hopefully we will have more soon! My parents instilled in me the value and importance of hard work.

I am a huge musical theatre nerd - my dream is to one day see Hamilton live on Broadway. My motion to permanently expand restaurant patios across Delta was unanimously approved by council. Though originally intended as a COVID measure, the expanded patio policy has created a more vibrant community, while also helping our businesses to survive.

We must do everything we can to support our small businesses. Families need support - especially when it comes to housing, transportation, and daycare - so that we can build a community that is accessible for everyone.

Be humble, work hard, and always be willing to learn. Represent Canada at the Olympics. My parents, they have always supported me and pushed me to work hard for goals.

In I completed a 2 week roadtrip to the Yukon and back by myself. Deciding whether to retire or not during the pandemic! But you never know, the Olympics is always on my mind! Take advantage of new opportunities. When I was really little I wanted to be a doctor. As I got older, I wanted to be a writer. Looking at the big picture before making decisions on the smaller details.

Staying up late to get things done after the kids go to sleep. I think that I was born with determination, but I feel like work ethic was instilled in me from a young age by my parents.

They always kept me busy with lots of activities when I was a kid including competitive fastpitch. Once a season, activity or project was started, it always had to be completed. I have travelled to 27 countries.

It was the best decision that I made as it was where I found my passion. In particular, when COVID emerged and the world shut down, our Foundation Team, actively chose to be a positive support for the community - helping with in-kind donations, initiating sirens at 7p.

I want to pass down the importance of community and philanthropy to the next generation. I also want to be a good role model for my kids by continuing to grow in my career, being present for my husband, kids, family and friends and making a positive impact on our community.

What other people think of me is none of my business. And always trust your gut feeling. I always wanted to work with animals and anything to do with helping people that need it. Taking pictures of anything and everything! I am not sure she ever sat down, I too now have that problem. My Mom was absolutely amazing and a huge part of our community, she helped everybody she could that needed it and I love being able to follow in her footsteps.

Both were amazing career opportunities that I loved, with great people. Future goals would be to stay on the path I am now with my businesses, and continuing to grow them! With that being said, I also have a goal of being able to spend more time with family, while doing a healthier juggle of family and business!

Bullies will be bullies; they come in all walks of life. From a young age I was attracted to the profession largely because of my many positive interactions with the local police department. My greatest habit is my commitment to my athletics. From a young age I have lived by a very disciplined lifestyle that includes training twice a day, eating healthy and practicing good sleeping habits.

My guilty pleasure is the occasional cheesecake. I witnessed my parents balance multiple jobs in order to provide a decent life for me. Till this day my brother and I joke that we have never seen our mother sleep; she is always up before us even if we have 5 AM training and goes to bed last making sure everyone and everything has been taken care of.

I have never tried alcohol in my life. I made a personal promise to myself to not try alcohol until I am completely done competing in sports.

My greatest achievement thus far has been the ability to help others rise to their potential. The high school wrestling team that I coach are the defending 3X Provincial Champions and is now regarded as one of the best teams in Canada. In July I am getting married and for that I have the goal of being the best husband that I can possibly be. My advice to my year-old self would be to dream big and not put any limits on myself. I always wanted to be an architect.

I handwrite a to-do list each morning, and cross off tasks as I complete them. I was once accused of stealing maple syrup from Rideau Hall, but the Governor General vouched for me. Leaving an unexpected, but established career in public affairs to enter the Police Academy. Trust your gut, always. I am fortunate to have too many from two careers to list just one, and all have been the result of true group efforts: from high-risk arrests that everyone goes home safely from, to establishing new teams and implementing progressive ideas.

To know better and do better, every day; for myself, my teams, and my communities. Delta is in good hands. For conquest implies waging aggressive war, vanquishing an enemy and taking over with no regard for those who have been pushed aside. So these words of St. John need to be discerned very carefully. In a positive sense the world can mean all those whom Jesus came to save — which is all of humanity, and all of creation.

As sinful creatures, we are all part of this world and this world is part of us. Hear the good news! God has gained victory over this world not through force and vio-.

God has conquered through the cross of Christ, by suffering and dying at the hands of a sinful humanity, and rising again to forgive that same humanity. A key promise of the New Testament is that Christ will return to establish his kingdom in its fullness — a kingdom where sin, suffering and death will be no more.

Christ has given us a share in his conquest by forgiving our sin and bestowing eternal life. How does it go? It is the song of a life reborn in Christ. It is the Easter song. Let us sing it together with all people today and forevermore.

Turning your yard into a vacation-worthy oasis Warm weather means more time to relax outdoors.

For those homeowners lucky enough to have entertaining spaces outside, spring and summer provides plenty of opportunities to enjoy fresh air under the sun or stars. Over the last few years, families have become especially familiar with what works about their yards and where there is room for improvement.

Pandemic-related travel restrictions and early stay-at-home mandates resulted in plenty of time spent in backyards on staycations. Even though many such restrictions have been lifted, homeowners may have seen the benefits of having functional respites right outside their doors.

Trees benefit a landscape by serving both aesthetic and utilitarian functions. A home surrounded by healthy green trees can be a sight to behold, and those same trees can benefit surrounding plants and wildlife at the same time.

As appealing as trees are, not all trees and landscapes make for the perfect match. Careful consideration of a handful of variables can help homeowners determine which trees will make the best fit for their properties.

Avoid trees that will bump into anything when fully grown, as that can adversely affect surrounding greenery and. In addition, wide trees that are planted too close together can make the landscape appear crowded, taking something away from its aesthetic appeal. Homeowners who want to plant for privacy can consider trees with quick.

Those who are not in need of instant transformation can try trees with slower growth rates. Homeowners can have their soil tested to determine which trees will thrive in it. We take pride in providing excellent advice and excellent client service! Visit us at severide. Drafting a last will and testament is an essential component of estate planning. Putting wishes down on paper helps avoid unnecessary work and sometimes heartache upon the death of a loved one.

Estate planning can be tricky, which is why many people turn to attorneys to get the job done right. Attorneys who specialize in estate planning will no doubt discuss the following topics with their clients. For example, life insurance policies or retirement plan proceeds will be distributed to your named beneficiaries. A will also can cover other assets, such as photographs, clothing, cars, and jewelry. Therefore, funeral wishes in a will often go unnoticed, states the legal advisement resource Find Law.

This person should be willing to serve and be capable of executing the will. People who die without a valid will become intestate. This means the estate will be settled based on the laws of where that person lived, and a court-appointed administrator will serve in the capacity to transfer property.

To avoid this outcome, a will and other estate planning documents are crucial. After supporting your loved ones, you can choose to leave a gift in your Will that can help transform healthcare in Delta for future generations. Estate gifts have a powerful impact on our hospital and can create a meaningful legacy in our community.

Wills usually name an executor, or an administrator, who is responsible for carrying out the instructions in the will. The executor or administrator can be one person or several people. If successful, the person who is named as administrator is legally able to. If you do hire a lawyer, legal fees are considered a proper expense and may be paid out of the estate subject to the approval of the beneficiaries, heirs-at-law or the court.

Anyone who applies for a grant of administration on their own must be well prepared and ready to do a lot of paperwork. The future is uncertain, but you can still prepare for it.
